Beautiful and deadly, exciting and cruel, Circe is one of the great magicians of Greek mythology. Assisted by his wand, potions, herbs, and spells, he can change humans into animals, causing forests to move, and change day into night. The ancient writer Homer, Hesiod, Ovid, and Plutarch all recorded deeds, guaranteeing its existence as a legend as chocolate frogs trading cards.

 

Daughter of the sun god Helios and the sea nymph Perse, Circe lived on the island Aeaea in coastal Italy , where he spends his days weaving with a loom and singing most entrancing voice. He used to frequently visited by tourists who came to the islands , or the people who do know the power of his magic and came to ask for his help . But Aeaea are far more dangerous than the typical islands with relaxed place. Sea god Glaucus discovered this when he comes in and asks Circe for a love potion to help him win the hearts of her idol, a sea nymph named Scylla. Circe fell in love with Glaucus and asked her to stay with him. When Glaucus rejected, Circe threw poisonous herb into the water where his rival was in the shower, changed Scylla into a horrible monster with the head of a dog and a snake protruding from its body. There is another man who is so foolish reject Circe and spend the rest of his life as a lumberjack.

 

Visitors Circe island is most famous Greek hero Odysseus and his crew, who landed in Aeaea on their way home from the Trojan war. See plumes of smoke from a distance, Odysseus sent half of his men to investigate. They then arrived at the decoy house, a marble palace amid the woods surrounded by tame animals such as bears, lions, and wolves which once was a man until they met Circe. Always greet his guests, Circec appeared at the door and invite them for lunch. But the wheat and cheese served already contains powerful ingredients that alter their memories and eliminate their desire to return home. When they are in a state of unconsciousness, Circe tapped his wand and change them one by one into a pig and herded them into the pig pen.

 

Circe plan the same fate at Odysseus, but Odysseus on his journey while looking for his men he met the god Hermes who gave him a herb called moly which is useful to counteract spells and potions of Circe. Circe magic useless against Odysseus, and he decided to make peace only with Odysseus and his men normalize back into a human again. From then on he became advisor to Odysseus, foresaw the danger in the future and explain how to communicate with the ghosts who will met on his journey to the Underworld.

 

The myth of Circe, along with stories about witch named Medea (Circe's niece) and the Greek goddess Hecate and the witches, makes the basic story of the belief in witches and magic. For several centuries, it became quite common for those who hear it to believe the myth that Circe was never there and did his magic happen.
